Bow Fittings, Bow Balls & Stemballs for Rowing Boats

Bow fittings for rowing boats – safety, visibility and protection at the bow.

At Eurow you’ll find everything for a clean and secure bow finish: bow balls (mandatory for racing), bow splash guards, bow number holders and PU sealant as a flexible bonding and damping compound.

Bow balls – mandatory and essential

Bow balls increase visibility and reduce injury risk in case of collision. They are always white and available in three common types:

  • for vertical bows of modern racing shells,
  • for traditional sloping bows,
  • and a C-boat version with extended collar for wider stems.

Mount with a small screw and washer ring on both sides of the ball, using a thin layer of PU sealant as a flexible bonding compound to absorb vibration. Adhesive alone is not sufficient – mechanical fastening prevents detachment during transport or collision.

Splash guards & bow number holders

A splash guard keeps water off the deck in rough or windy conditions. Bow number holders (race number clips) hold the race number plate during regattas. Suitable for boats from Empacher, Filippi, Hudson, Wintech, Salani or Janousek.

Finishing & maintenance

PU sealant is widely used in boatbuilding as a flexible bonding and sealing medium, e.g. for bow balls, inspection hatches or cockpit edges. Check regularly that the bow ball and number holder are firmly attached – loose fittings can cause a failed safety check before racing.

Bow balls for competition row boats

Safety and Visibility with Bow Balls

Our Bow Balls are an essential addition to any rowing boat, designed to increase both safety and visibility. Made of durable rubber and with a minimum diameter of 4 cm, these balls offer optimal protection.

With the attached sheath, they are easy to mount on the bow of the rowing boat, using screws and/or polyurethane sealant. Bow balls are not only for safety during potential collisions, but they are also a requirement to clearly see when the boat crosses the finish line.

Don't wait if you have a damaged or loose bow ball - get a replacement right away to ensure your own safety and the safety of others. Remember that a rowing boat is not considered safe by umpires until the bow ball is securely attached to the bow tip.

Get peace of mind and meet safety standards with high quality Bow Balls. Protect yourself, your team and your performance on the water
