Carbon tube rigger (S)
Empacher S-rigger (carbon tube rigger) – ultra-light, stiff and precise for S-type Empachers.
The S-rigger is Empacher’s modern carbon tube design for S-type shells with ribs. The combination of a very stiff main tube and a precisely aligned stay delivers a direct, stable stroke with consistent geometry – ideal for high-performance crews and clubs maintaining S-type Empachers.
S-rigger: Empacher’s tube geometry
The S-rigger is engineered to maximise torsional stiffness in S-type hulls. The carbon main tube absorbs the load during the catch and drive, while the stay keeps oarlock height, span and work-through (the seat travel relative to the oarlock line) consistent under pressure. The result: light, predictable and precise strokes in both sweep and sculling.
Rigger construction
- Main tube (carbon) – stiff and light, transferring load from the oarlock into the rib.
- Stay (carbon) – stabilises height and geometry during the stroke.

Installation & use
- When ordering, always specify boat serial number, seat number (counted from bow) and side (port/starboard).
- Ensure rib surfaces and bolt holes are clean and free of burrs.
- Install the main tube first, then align and mount the stay for correct oarlock position.
- Hand-tighten rib bolts first, adjust the rigger, and only then tighten fully.
- Check oarlock pin, bushings and clearances regularly.
